2013 Development Report of China Paraquat Industry

As the second largest herbicide of the world, paraquat has attracted much controversy throughout the world because of its high performance of herbicidal while high-occurrence of poisoning cases. Actually, the hazardous of paraquat to human healthy and environment is relatively low in normal production and application process, in addition to its irreplaceable position in the application of no-till crops (which can be told in the case of paraquat reuse in Malaysia), paraquat has contributed a lot to the fast growth of global pesticide industry.
Event
In May of 2013, against by India, Guatemala and Honduras, paraquat AS (content higher than 200g/L) was not listed into Rotterdam Convention, and such draft resolution will be brought forward to COP (Conference of Parties) in 2015. The concerns of export limitation of paraquat AS melt away for a while.

Production of China paraquat product increased significantly in recent years. In 2006, total output was around 40,000 tonnes, while in 2010, the digit doubled to nearly 90,000 tonnes, which means the annual growth rate reached some 20%. Till this year, output of paraquat TC in H1 2013 reached more than 40,000 tonnes. According to statistics, right now there are more than 200 paraquat formulators who obtained production licenses in China. What’s more, price of paraquat TC has enjoyed an increasing tendency during the past year (see the following figure).
In this report, detailed introduction and analysis of paraquat industry policies, production technology, wastewater treatment, market profile, export and import, raw materials, future development and investment risks are presented, it’ll provide real and effective information so that manufacturers and investors could comprehensively grab future trend of the industry and make right decisions on developing and investment.
