According to CCPIA monthly bulletin of statistics of China Agrochemicals, in October, VWAP (volume weighted average price) of paraquat TK increased by 5% month-on-month. Overall, except for the first quarter’s quick increase, price trend of paraquat TK performed stably in 2014. However, since it’s not purchasing season for paraquat now, it’s estimated that price of paraquat will dip down in the next few months, and price of the main raw material, pyridine is also unoptimistic.

Seen from manufacturers’ operation situation, output of paraquat TK fell by 5% MoM, while sales volume increased by 20%. Since the ban of paraquat AS implemented on July 1^st, 2014, output and sales level of paraquat fell significantly compared to the first half of 2014. According to a main manufacturer, RedSun, over 60% of its paraquat products are exported to overseas, the ban won’t impact its profit too much. And it’s basically the same situation of other main manufacturers. Plus their frequent actions on new formulation development, lifetime of paraquat in China will be guaranteed for another few years.
